Preeti Taterway brings an unconventional perspective to MBA admissions coaching. Her journey began with a background in fashion and a career in the industry before ultimately leading her to The Wharton School and a career spanning strategy consulting, entrepreneurship, and admissions advising. Having navigated a non-traditional path herself, she believes that compelling applications are built when candidates embrace what makes them different rather than trying to fit a mold.

Over the past nine years, she has advised more than 100 applicants and particularly enjoys working with candidates with unconventional profiles and applicants seeking to differentiate themselves in highly competitive pools. Clients appreciate Preeti’s thoughtful questioning, candid feedback, and ability to uncover strengths and themes they may not immediately recognize in themselves.

In addition to admissions consulting, Preeti founded a strategy consulting practice and advises organizations across the retail, education, and consumer sectors on growth strategy and marketing initiatives.

Preeti earned her MBA from The Wharton School and holds a bachelor’s degree from the National Institute of Fashion Technology.

Outside of work, Preeti can often be found immersed in a video game, working on a cross-stitch project, or reading science fiction and fantasy novels. She enjoys pursuits that combine creativity with strategy and is always happy to exchange book recommendations or discuss a favorite game.

Q&A with Preeti

What’s your coaching superpower?

Helping people articulate things they already know but haven’t yet put into words.

The best admissions conversations often start with a candidate saying, “I have never thought about it that way before.” I enjoy asking questions, exploring experiences, and helping applicants uncover the beliefs, motivations, and lessons that have guided their decisions. When those pieces come together, the application becomes much more than a collection of achievements—it becomes a reflection of who they are.

Why is your top piece of advice for admissions candidates?

Spend less time worrying about what admissions committees want to hear and more time understanding what you want to say.

The strongest applications rarely come from trying to fit a particular mold. They come from thoughtful reflection about your experiences, values, and aspirations. Before you write an essay, take the time to understand your own story. That clarity will show up in every part of your application—from your essays to your interviews.
