Q&A with Emma
What’s your favorite client success story?
I worked with a client reapplying to LBS (his top choice school) after being waitlisted and ultimately rejected the previous year. Reapplications are tough, especially in round 1, so soon after rejection. His original application wasn’t “wrong,” but it lacked passion and personality – nothing made him stand out in a competitive pool.
We focused on repositioning his story to align with LBS values like eclecticism and engagement. He fully embraced the process, reflecting deeply on his unique value-add and how to present a more well-rounded profile. By the end, he had clarity on his fit and goals, and his application had a fresh, compelling energy. I was nearly as thrilled as he was when he finally received his acceptance email!
Why are you passionate about coaching?
Coaching is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever experienced. I love working with Fortuna clients, all of whom are smart, all of whom are driven and articulate, and all of whom have a different story to tell. I love engaging with people and helping them identify their USP – finding out what it is that makes their story unique, working together to finesse it and making sure that an entire application is the very best it can be. And I love the end result, being part of the excitement that comes when a client gets an offer, and knowing that it’s just the start of a huge and exciting MBA journey.
