The expert coaches

Catherine Tuttle
Duke Fuqua former Associate Program Director

Catherine Tuttle, Duke FuquaCatherine spent the bulk of her career at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. For five years, Catherine served as an Associate Director within Fuqua’s Career Management Center.  She also worked with Admissions, the Career Management Center, and the Health Sector Management program on marketing initiatives.

Catherine started her career at Duke University as the Marketing Manager for multiple departments at Duke Fuqua including Admissions, the Career Management Center, and the Health Sector Management program. Her marketing experience greatly informs her work as an MBA admissions coach, as her job is still about crafting just the right message and tailoring it to the audience based on their specific wants and needs.

For five years, Catherine served as an Associate Director within Fuqua’s Career Management Center where her main role was leading the career counseling team in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of all career programs offered to full-time and Executive MBA students.  She also provided one-on-one coaching to current MBA students, helping them prepare for the recruiting process. She served as the liaison between the Career Management Center and other departments, including Admissions. During this time, she gave numerous presentations to prospective students addressing best practices for preparing for business school from a career standpoint and sharing ways to engage with the Career Management Center before, during, and after their time at Fuqua.

For the past four years, Catherine has been the Manager of Alumni Career Services at North Carolina State University where she provides career coaching to alumni ranging from one year to over 20 years out of school, including those with advanced degrees. Her coaching includes resume development, job search guidance, and interview preparation assistance, among other facets of career searching.

Catherine runs a resume writing business, Forward Thinking Resumes, where she consults with clients from across the country to create strategic resumes that speak to the job they want, not the jobs they’ve had.

Catherine holds two degrees from NC State University including a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Master’s Degree in Education.  While she has always lived and worked in North Carolina, she has family up and down the east coast. So she, her husband, and her son often load up in the family SUV and head north to visit family and friends in Virginia, Maryland, DC, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island.

Fortuna - Media Logos 2.001

I truly felt that Fortuna went above and beyond what was promised; they were generous with their time, their network, their advice, and their experience. I would consider them more than coaches, but friends, and recommend the Fortuna team 100%, wholeheartedly!

Admitted to Stanford GSB with full scholarship, MIT Sloan with $110,000 scholarship, and Wharton with $60,000 scholarship

Still can’t believe it, I got in at INSEAD!  Fortuna’s advice was invaluable in helping me craft my application.  With timely and thorough feedback, I was able to draw upon the right experiences that allowed me to put my best foot forward. I would highly recommend this experience to any prospective applicants.

S.V., Ottawa – Admitted to INSEAD

You have first-hand knowledge of the admissions process (and not in a secondary role as many others) and can leverage that experience.
You are also a fun team to work with. Working for months on your applications can be stressful so this makes a difference.

J.F., Philadelphia – Admitted to Stanford GSB

Working with Fortuna is like having Warren Buffett as your personal financial advisor.

D.B., London – Admitted to HBS

I have been admitted to Stanford! This would never have been possible without your help. Beyond helping me correct the structure of the essays you helped me push my thinking especially on the ‘what matters most to me’ question.

A.B., Paris – Admitted to Stanford GSB
